The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will drive the development and own the strategy of high quality, regional (US), coordinated cross-functional medical plans. This initiative supports the overall program strategy for assigned teams / sub-teams. This role applies project management and standard methodologies in the development, initiation, planning, delivery, and monitoring of projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Partner with functional leads to build coordinated, medical and cross-functional US plans
  • Identify key results for each function and their inter-dependencies
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and accountability
  • Identify project issues or resource gaps and facilitating resolution
  • Drive decision making according to Amgen's decision-making framework (DAI)
  • Supervise and communicates progress and adherence to timelines
  • Facilitate resource planning, financial and capacity assessments
  • Conduct the risk management and scenario planning according to DAI; driving the development of contingency and/or risk mitigation plans
  • Document issues, decisions and action items of medical and/or cross-functional US teams as well as ad hoc project team meetings
  • Raises cross-functional US project issues to GPM or cross-functional sub-team leader
  • Coordinate activities with external business partners and alliances, where applicable; contributing to partnership contract results
  • Drive the communication plans for cross-functional/medical US teams
  • Provide US cross-functional project information to GPM/Work Package Teams SPM for incorporation into commercialization results and program timelines
  • Manage US team communication across functions
  • Lead and/or participates in special department, cross-functional, or team projects

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Project Management experience


Master's degree and 4 years of Project Management experience


Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Project Management experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Project Management experience


High School diploma / GED and 12 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 plus years of demonstrated ability in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare-related field
  • 4 plus years of demonstrated ability in a drug development Project Management role
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Drug Development knowledge with basic to strong understanding of other functions relevant to the position which may include: Research, Preclinical, Clinical, Manufacturing, Commercial and Regulatory Utilization of Project Management tools, methodologies, practices and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry
