Amgen Thousand Oaks (ATO) Manufacturing and Clinical Supply (MCS) is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of products, process knowledge and technology solutions to empower Amgen's accelerated product commercialization. The MCS business spans from demand and supply planning, sourcing, manufacturing to distribution of clinical and commercial products. As an integral member of the Process Development organization, MCS provides an innovation ecosystem to advance differentiating multi-modality capabilities and gain insight in development and regulated environment in support of product and process development. Bringing to bear our tech transfer and manufacturing capabilities, MCS serves as a launch site to enable speed to market for Amgen's innovative products and biosimilars.

The ATO Site Supply Chain organization is responsible for all aspects of supply planning, manufacturing scheduling, capacity planning, materials/sourcing and master data management activities for MCS across all phases (pre-clinical, clinical development, and commercial). We have an opportunity in the ATO Site Supply Chain team for a Senior Manager, Supply Chain.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the risk management process for MCS. This individual will perform portfolio-wide assessment of risk across programs, manufacturing stages and geographical sites. Responsibilities include oversight of end-to-end risk assessment for manufacturing and clinical supply, building data driven analysis to inform risk mitigation actions, development of strategy and business cases to support recommendations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Build risk management strategy for MCS, ensure programs adheres to risk management plans and process by generating metrics and reports.
  • Ensures that risk management processes are continuously improved to reflect program priority, strategy, and ensure consistency across products.
  • Nurtures and maintains standards and serves as business owner of process, systems and templates related to risk management
  • Collaborates with partner functions (e.g. Process Development, Clinical Development, Manufacturing, Operations Strategy, Business Partners) to achieve the most effective integration of available tools and data into risk management processes.
  • Leads or chips in to cross-functional initiatives intended to improve risk profile and Ensure end-to-end process adherence by various partners.
  • Provides centralized support, training, and leadership for risk related programs and other functions who work on risk management plans and communications.
  • Develops the production scenarios and capacity models to support operations and forward-looking strategic initiatives.
  • Performs opportunity/risk and cost-benefit analyses and develops business cases.
  • Represents the Thousand Oaks site on global networks as a subject matter authority for site or function
  • Present recommendations to Senior Management and drive decisions.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Operations experience within a Manufacturing environment experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Operations experience within a Manufacturing environment experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Operations experience within a Manufacturing environment experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Operations experience within a Manufacturing environment experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations experience within a Manufacturing environment experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles
  • Advanced degree in Business, Science, or Engineering
  • Proven understanding of drug development, commercialization and operations planning
  • Established understanding of manufacturing, supply chain fundamentals and risk management
  • Experienced in continuous improvement of business processes, including process ownership, oversight and monitoring.
  • Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity, ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable meaningful business analyses and influence decision-making.
  • Proven success in navigating a highly matrix-based organization to deliver against complex program plans.
  • Ability to communicate vertically and horizontally through numerous channels, utilize cross-functional network to complete goals.
  • Recognized ability to handle more than one complex project simultaneously
  • Ability to optimally handle contending priorities and timelines
  • Good discernment, high-level critical thinking and strong analytical skills
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Exhibits ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
