Global Facilities Operations Risk & Business Continuity is responsible for instilling a culture of safety, risk, preparedness, & business resilience within the organization through application of risk management, business continuity, emergency and crisis management techniques. Objectives of this group are protection of life, company business, facilities and assets.
  • Reports to Global Facilities Operations Risk ManagementDirector.
  • The Project Manager develops an annual GFO Risk Plan for Risk Assessments and facilitates risk assessments using Amgen's Operations Risk Management methodology and system. The Risk Manager advises project managers, insurance liaisons, facility managers and management on risk severity and likelihood and tracks the mitigations to closure in partnership with Risk Owners and Environmental Health & Safety. The Risk Manager facilitates maintenance of the Operations Risk Network Assessment for Thousand Oaks, in collaboration with other Risk Leads at the site.
  • The Project Manager provides program management leadership for site crisis management, business and facilities recovery programs for assigned sites and is accountable to the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) Risk and Business Continuity Director in support of the Site Heads and Regional GFO Directors. This role will support the GFO Sites at Thousand Oaks & South San Francisco, CA; Cambridge, Mass; and Canadian sites. In addition, the candidate may also support our commuter connection program.
  • Responsible for implementation of industry best practices and Amgen corporate business continuity and crisis management expectations to achieve site program maturity and maintain a state of readiness for emergency management and business recovery phases.
  • Liaison with Site Leadership, GFO, Global Security, Global Business Continuity, Environmental Health & Safety, volunteer staff and contingent workers, integrated services providers, and external responders & trainers, on-site and remotely.
  • Develop and ensure maintenance of effective plans, messaging/alerts, supplies & equipment, technology & communication devices, and delivers outreach and training to sustain bench-strength in key response positions. Present program status in Governance meetings. Be familiar with emergency management and response operations (ICS and NIMS). Design and facilitate exercises and incorporate lessons learned. Track and report status of exercise action items. Participate in response in times of crisis.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of operations or project management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of operations or project management experience

OR

Associate degree and 10 years of operations or project management experience

OR

High school diploma/GRE and 12 years of operations or project management experience

AND
Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Qualified Amgen Operations Risk Assessment Facilitator
  • 5+ years' experience in Biotech, pharmaceutical, device, cGMP.
  • External public responder experience
  • Emergency, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, or IS Disaster Recovery certification.
  • Training design and delivery experience.
  • Experience managing and/or participating in emergency, crisis or risk management, disaster recovery, or business continuity program activities.
  • Facilities Management or Engineering or Commuter Transportation program experience
  • Frontline Live business continuity system or iRisk or Stature Risk system experience.
  • Contract/vendor management or supply chain experience.
  • Continuous Improvement experience (Operations Excellence, Value Steam Mapping, Kaizen, Storyboards, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Project Management Certification.
