How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

Brighthouse Financial is seeking an experienced Business Operations Director in its Enterprise Operations department to analyze, design and implement organization and process optimization changes. This role will lead a team to conduct and implement critical firm wide strategic improvements across a broad range of areas to evaluate and enhance organizational design and operating processes to reduce costs and increase efficiencies. The role is largely focused on the strategic design considerations versus project management execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a small team to oversee the implementation of a critical corporate initiative, spanning the entire organization, to define the operations value chain across the firm. This work will develop an optimized view of workflows, handoffs and resources to identify efficiencies. Key deliverables include analysis and recommendations on potential shared services, organization enhancements, process and control improvements
  • Determine specific requirements to address complex and varied business needs including providing strategic advice on process improvements
  • Responsible for managing complex and the highest profile vendors
  • Drive the definition of the future state operating model including facilitating necessary people, process and system changes
  • Document and present written updates to senior management
  • Lead team members to resolve issues and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Define user acceptance testing strategies including leading team members to develop and execute test cases and resolve defects

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • 12+ years total experience
  • 10 + years leading people and managing complex, large and high-profile projects
  • Expert level of knowledge of supported business functions, processes/procedures, workflow, systems and transactions
  • Expert level of service, teamwork and collaboration
  • Proven ability defining and implementing organizational and operating process changes
  • Background in financial services, preferably within the life and health insurance industry
  • Extensive experience working directly with senior leadership to communicate strategies and implementation updates
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability in leading and mentoring teams
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change in a dynamic environment
